Meet Wrap Up: Swim Sask Race Series #3 & MASTERS (Mar 7)

Hello TEAM,

March 7th the LASERS had 40 age group athletes and 8 masters athletes racing at the 3rd Sask Race Series, hosted by goldfins and held at the Shaw. It was an extremely exciting event with sooooo many great swims - from all ages (7-60years old!).

AGE GROUPERS;

Our development age group program continues to grow in size and performance, and with 52 podium placements and 20 new qualifying swims (Junior provincial TEAM continues to grow!) this group is simply lighting it up. I foresee this exciting ride of best times and club growth to continue well into next season and future seasons to come, as our development pathway seems to be locked in and we are moving athletes along at an appropriate pace, keeping them challenged and engaged in the sport and their development. It's easy to get caught up in performance and neglect proper development and push too much too soon, but I believe LASERS have a strong and sound balance on our long term athlete development plan, and it shows in our happy healthy swimmers, swimming FAST! Let's keep up this positive and productive energy and LETS GO LASERS!!!

Our Masters group also lit it up this weekend and the results speak for themselves - many best times and club records! But looking past the quantitative data, I'm most proud of each of these athletes for stepping out of their comfort zones, and putting themselves up there on the blocks against the clock to race (in front of a crowd non the less). This is the true victory of athletics - getting yourself to the starting line and attempting to be the best version of yourself at that moment. It's times like this, when an individual sport like swimming becomes a TEAM sport, having your people support you and challenge themselves right beside you, makes it a little easier to push, suffer and grow - everyone taking on their own personal fight, but everyone sharing the journey. Way to go TEAM you are all an inspiration to others and I hope this sparks some new swimmers to come out and join our crew of 'misfits'.... i mean masters! Way to go TEAM, now lets keep this great momentum and level up #Budapest2027 #Worlds
